Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on
April 25, 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen) is a
Norwegian-born former nurse and midwife, with Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) as well
as Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a Swiss engineer.
The two have been married since 1963. Drew Zellweger is Renee's brother, and he
was born on February 15, 1967. Renee was part of the drama club in high school,
and was interested in acting. In Austin she also took an acting class and started
to explore acting as a profession. She wanted to pursue acting after
graduation. But, Hollywood can be difficult to enter, so Renee decided to stay
in Texas and attempt to audition for roles in Houston. She was able to land
roles in films like Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). Matthew
McConaughey (another Hollywood rising star) was her pal while she was on set of
Texas Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). Renee observed him
working on a film and auditioned. She was offered the role in Love , and 45
(1994). The role was a huge success and was a huge success and earned her the
respect of many that she relocated to Los Angeles. Another role in The Whole
Wide World (1996) followed which led to her first big break. Cameron Crowe was
busy casting his next film which was Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise.
Crowe was considering actors like Bridget Fonda (Camden Diaz), Winona Ryder
(Winona Ryder), and Marisa Tomei. Then he was able to see Zellweger's
performance from The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and was
convinced she was the perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee continued to enjoy her
success in small independent films. The film received more praise from critics
and was assured that she was capable of re-entering large-budget Hollywood
films. Meryl Streep was the co-star in One True Thing (1998). She also starred
in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and starred opposite Jim Carrey, and soon
after she began dating Carrey. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
