Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California, the youngest daughter of media mogul, producer and singer Quincy
Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Kidada Jones is her older sister. She also has
five half-siblings derived from her father's other relationships. Her father is
African-American and her mother is Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant from migrants
from Russia as well as Latvia). Rashida was educated in Reform Judaism. She
grew up in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones stated that Jones had mixed
race parents who were not acceptable to her during the 1970s. Jones'
professional acting debut was in The Last Don (1997) the mini-series based on
Mario Puzo's novel. Rashida also graduated from Harvard University in 1997. She
attended the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. The school was voted
the most likely to Succeed. Her name is Arabic (O+-O'UO-O(c)) meaning
"Major adult, mature older or wise". People Magazine's 50 Most

previously engaged to Mark Ronson (music producer), 25 February 2003. Niece of
Robert Lipton. She was romantically associated with Josh Hartnett, Charlie
Hunnam and John Krasinski. Kidada Jones was the ring bearer for her sister's
engagement and was an artist for the Tupac Shakur tribute song. Rashida and
Kidada's brother Quincy Jones III produced the track, while their father,
Quincy Jones, made an appearance , reciting the lyrics of the song by Tupac
Shakur "Starry Night" in the intro. Shakur's poem is the source for
the song's title. Rashida is an African-American, and has less English,
Scottish, or Welsh heritage than his mother (some of his African relatives are
from the Tikar tribe of Cameroon). Rashida's mother is Ashkenazi Jewish (of
Russian Jewish and Latvian Jewish descent). Her maternal grandparents are from
South Carolina and Mississippi. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York,
and her maternal grandmother was born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European
Jewish origin. At the time of writing, 2009, she has appeared in three
different characters using the title "Karen" on classic cult TV
comedies (Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2005) and The Office (2005)).
