Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was born in Pasadena, California. When she was three years older, her family and her moved to the United States. Summer was a student at American as well as British schools as her family was in Europe. Her return to Pasadena, California just short of her fourteenth birthday. Summer was infatuated with the idea that she would one day be an actor from the age of five, took her first acting class when she was 14. Nine months later, she made an agreement with an agent as well as a manager, and then began her career full time. In her spare time she is enrolled in college and striving to complete her degree. The actress was named one of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominee for Best Actress – Spirit Award. When she was 14, Bishil began her acting lessons. Within a year, she was contracted to an agency and manager. Bishil started her career on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that, she was signed to a contract with a manager and agency. Her breakout role came in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most authentic in a film that, in spite of its noble intentions, seems completely fake and a little embarrassing, much like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss, who writes for a variety of Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the finest natural actors to come out over the last few years." Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead stated that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) gives an impressive and quietly engaging performance in Jasira. She was a part of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over project in 2009, starring Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. The film was a success and she was cast as Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the primary storyline of the planned but never made sequel.
