ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played multiple sports throughout her childhood but did not favor soccer until she reached 14. Following high school, Morgan joined Cypress Elite's team. They took home the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and finished third in their under-19 bracket. Morgan continued her training at Diamond Bar High School, where she worked on her soccer skills. She was chosen as an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She was also a participant of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer from the beginning of her season. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament in four years and then to the second round twice. Morgan was among four finalist candidates for the Honda Sports Award and the first student from her college to be ranked among the top Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan graduated in 2010 with the third-highest amount of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at the collegiate and national level throughout her college. Morgan was injured in her ACL during her first year as a Berkeley player. She was unable train for the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April. Following that Morgan scored her first goal for the international team in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with four goals, getting her team a gold medal, among other accolades.Morgan was then recruited by the senior national team who she replaced and scored several crucial goals. One of them was a win against Italy that gave the U.S. team the final place at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and he led it to victory against France. Morgan even though the U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score either a goal or assist.
