Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American performer and actress of Irish descent was a well-known character. The beautiful green-eyed beauty with fiery red locks was well-known for her fiery and passionate roles in several American films. Her attractive look and natural beauty was well-loved. She was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her screen appearances reflect her strong, brave spirit. She fought for recognition and survival within an era of male dominance. She described herself as "the tough Irish girl" and she would not compromise on her respect for others to obtain the roles she was entitled to by merit. She was a strong advocate for women actors in film and television, and gained a large following due to this. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", published in 2004 gave an honest review of her life including her struggles in her climb to success. She was an adventurous woman who was not afraid to attempt herself at her own tricks. She was a part of more than 60 films, and was a well-known international star. Following her departure from Parra She remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier, former chief pilot, and an early pioneer in transatlantic aviation, just to mention just a few of her accomplishments. After a few years of their marriage, O'Hara decided to take a break from her career. Blair however, was killed in a tragic plane crash in 1978. O'Hara's bliss was not long-lasting. The following year, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and needed immediate surgery. She recovered eventually. She had six heart attacks, short-term memory loss as well as diabetes type 2 throughout the years. O'Hara was 95 years old. She peacefully died in Boise on October 24, 2015.
